Review: Northland, By Porter Fox

Abstract

Northland chronicles Porter Fox’s travels along the length of the northern border of the continental U.S., from Passamaquoddy Bay to Bellingham, Washington. He sets out to narrate the history of the line, as well as his own travels, but his insistent focus on European exploration and representation of the region as untamed wilderness obscure the larger realities of life along the world's longest border.
