A Survey of Primary Sources for the Social and Economic History of Seafaring Communities in Maine

Abstract

The article discusses primary source materials that may be available to a researched interested in the history of Maine seafaring communities including how the societies were structure, the adjustments needed to accommodate the decline the industry and the roles played by women in these communities.
